A profound emotional journey full of anxieties and uncertainties
Egg freezing is a complex process that involves 2 weeks or more to deal with multifaceted network of services, including medical, emotional, financial, and legal aspects.
Individuals experience negative feelings by a complex interplay of biological, psychological and environmental factors along the process. Below are the top rated reasons:
📈 Hormone level fluctuations and body change
❓ Anxiety for the monitoring data and final result

Alex’s egg freezing journey
32 years old / work in tech company / live alone in LA
“I plan to establish a family and have my own children in the future, but at the moment I want to focus more on career...”

The most challenging part takes place outside the fertility center, especially when alone at home
Most of the hard moments are often experienced outside the fertility center, where users are typically alone without professional guidance.
They need to take daily stimulation shots, visit fertility center for regular blood& ultrasound test, experience body change, while maintaining a good work-life balance.

Through interview
Insufficient guidance leave individuals feeling ill-equipped and uncertain about their journey
From the interview with 5 egg freezing patients and 2 fertility doctors, we identified service gaps between fertility center and individuals, due to limited availability of medical resources, the presence of on-call doctors, and the psychological aspects of the patients... These factors shed light on the following consequence:

challenge breakdown
Due to lack of trusted guidance and reliable information source, users tend to spend great time looking for references, asking peers, while still feeling anxious about their own circumstances.
User easily become concerned about ‘abnormal’ figures in monitoring results, especially when confronted with complex terminology that can be difficult to comprehend.
Limited medical service and changing doctors result in negative and low-efficient communication, while users sometimes require personalized answers by individual concerns.
Feel uncertain about the entire process and self-condition
Difficult to track and comprehend the monitoring fertility data
Inconsistent experience and communication

While outcomes can vary greatly and could even be bad, completing the cycle is uneasy for everyone. We hope to make Eggwise an inclusive experience for any possible result:
Manage expectations at early stage
